Folk Magic, Rituals, & Witchcraft

Mentions of folk magic, witchcraft, and rituals put many in mind of the English countryside or the witch trials of New England, but in truth every culture has their witches and spellwork. In many cases, the peoples they belonged to may not have even considered them to be magic, as until fairly recently there was no clear delineation for people between magic and mundane, and folks would perform rites over their fields just as surely as they would till them and see both as essential for planting and harvesting.

A note on sensitive matters: Though in many historic examples of accused witches it is highly doubtful the victims of persecution were actual witches themselves (we will respect their protestations that they were not witches), we will include their stories here so that they may not be forgotten.
