Cryptids are animals which are not currently accepted by the scientific community. Spirits, at present, are also largely dismissed, and as some cryptids may be spirits and some spirits may be cryptids, we felt it good practice to place these two topics together.
While the vast majority of cryptids have not been confirmed by science (thus becoming accepted as animals rather than cryptids), there are a few notable exceptions, such as the gorilla or the giant squid. In cases such as these, we place folklore regarding these animals within the Animals, Objects, Places, & Plants section of the archives.
